Game 6:
San Diego vs. Reno Stars

Entering the first playoff game in five trips to Arizona the Stars give up 3 in a shaky 1st inning but answer back with 2 of there own and take advantage of some San Diego mistakes and some timely hitting and build up an 11-6 lead by the 7th inning. Dudley, given the game ball and stating “I will not lose this game” did just that putting together a gutty performance and hangs on with men on 1st and 3rd with 2 outs and a 1 run lead in the scary 9th inning to get the “W” and sent the Stars to the semi’s with a 11-10 victory. Manager Gary Arlitz’s goatee turns completely white during the 9th inning.

Game 7:
Reno Stars vs. Skyway Park Mariners

Having faced the Mariners in game 1 the decision was made to throw a fresh face at them, Salazar Started and threw well over 5 and two thirds innings before a change was made bringing in lefty Tim Reynolds. Reynolds threw well and got out of a basesloaded , no outs situation in the 9th that was flat out CLUTCH. Stars lead 5-4 after 4. Mariners tie it at 5 before the Stars take a 7-5 lead on a Nate Muzzi 2 run HR. Mariners Score 2 on an error and a couple of hits to tie it. After loading the bases again in the 10th with 2 outs The Mariners get a hit that just falls in to score the winning run and end the Stars run for the ring. Skyway goes on to defeat the Las Vegas Sandvipers 4-2 to take the championship.

I wanted to take a moment to thank the players that committed to going to Arizona this year.
This was one of our best groups to go. The team unity was above and beyond, there was one purpose to this team, WIN. Egos were checked at the door. Dave Diegle, Mike Ellis and Dave Rider were last minute additions which proved to be huge additions as they all contributed. Tom Summy, Mike Croteau and Kenny Schmidt all were a big help on the Reno side as I coordinated plans from Vegas.
Having been away for 1 year now it was great to see old friends and play some ball with them again.
Thanks guys.

Some of our players that stood out this year in Arizona:
Nate Kerr: Stellar Defense throughout , scored 7 runs
Tony Alverado: Stellar D, big hits , left it all on the field.
